Unable to launch NIS 2009 after fresh installation...

I'm so frustrated right now !!!!

This is the  3rd attempt to get this **bleep** product working ....

 

Once it installs, I run the updates which fail (2 out of 10 or so) twice and on the third update+restart, it installs everything there is to be installed and after restarting, NIS 09 doesn't show up ... It gives the message <see screenshot>

I've read the forums for the above 8504,4 error and nothing works.

I've downloaded the latest update [20090720-086-v5i32] ; I've used the Norton Removal Tool and reinstalled the product to no effect.

I also tried the KB20080828105226EN update just in case it might help - nope ....

Weirdly enough, I can't access the Internet either with IE 6 or with Chrome - Mozilla works for some reason (scratches head)

 

 

It's ironic coz this is the first product that I actually paid for and it's been a pain so far :)

Any suggestions would be welcome before I so something I'll regret ...
