Unable to Remove Identified Trojans - Now What?

Today, out of the blue, NIS presented me with a pop-up identifying two Unresolved Security Risks. I've numbered them for easy reference:

1) Trojan.Malscript detected by virus scanner, Attention Required, 12/1/2013 05:01:24 pm

2) Trojan.Pidief detected by virus scanner, Attention Required, 12/1/2013 05:01:26 pm

At the same time, NIS shows these Resolved Security Risks:

3) 1fd855c2-4fde2864 (Trojan.Maljava!gen31) detected by virus scanner, Quarantined, 12/1/2013 03:27:52 pm

4) Trojan.Pidief detected by virus scanner, Quarantined, 12/1/2013 03:41:21 pm

5) Trojan.Malscript detected by virus scanner, Quarantined, 12/1/2013 03:41:21 pm

6) Trojan.Maljava!gen31 detected by virus scanner, Quarantined, 12/1/2013 05:01:26 pm

I notice #3, 4, and 5 got removed from users/myname/appdata    etc.

#6 got removed from e:\computername\backup set 2013-02-24    etc.

while #1 and 2 reside at e:\computername\backup set 2013-02-24     etc.

Remove Failed on #1 and 2, no matter how many times I try.

Norton Power Eraser did not remove them.

(Norton Bootable Recovery Tool is given as next step but that webpage states it is to "get your computer back up and running if it becomes so infected that it won't work properly or even start." That is not my situation.)

Symantec Help v2.1 did not remove them.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware did not see them.

Spybot Search and Destroy did not see them.

I have Windows 7, just upgraded from IE10 to IE 11 a few days ago. Adobe Acrobat is Version 11.0.5.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Would these be the so-called "false positives" to report?

I am afraid to employ something as seemingly drastic and scary as the Bootable Recovery Tool. I am not experienced with this stuff.

Thanks for any help.
