Hi,
Can you provide a little more info? What do you mean it "kicks you out"? When this happens, can you check task manager and look for two processes called "ccSvcHst.exe"? Let me know if they are present. A screenshot of task manager would help.
Thanks,
/Chester
By Kicked-out, I mean that the NIS 2009 icon is no longer resident in the notification area within the task bar (ie. bottom right corner). Only one process of ccSvcHst.exe" is still available in Task Mgr, by "system" but not by user name. But, am able to scan files with NIS.
Found the problem. NIS 2009 is conflicting with a program called, “Dr Eye” (a language translation program). With Dr Eye, it installs a program called “msn plug-in” at startup. Once I’ve unselected it during startup (via msconfig), the problem no longer exists. This program is only affected on Dr Eye version 7.0 with my XP machine. I’ve the updated Dr Eye 8.0 on a Vista Ultimate machine and doesn’t seem to cause this problem.
Great!
I've installed my newly purchased NIS 2009 for my 3 pc (1 Vista, 2 XP Pro, with 3 upgrade download licenses) with the following procedure:
1. Removed my current NIS 2008 by running the latest Norton Removal Tool. Then deleted all the remaining Symantec, Norton, Symantec Shared files within the program files, common files directory.
2. Delete the regedit files of symantec within the HKey_Local Machine and HKey_Current User
3. Reboot and install NIS 2009... everything installed fine.
However, now have the following problems:
First, my Windows Vista Ultimate (SP1) cannot synchronize with my Windows Mobile phone (WM6 OS using Windows Mobile Device Center). It was working perfectly before with NIS 2008.. before the NIS 2009.
Second, my Windows XP Pro (SP3) will kick out NIS 2009 when I go into the Settings section within main UI and click either "OK" or "Cancel" (doesn't matter if I've made any settings changes or not). Thereafter, NIS 2009 is no longer resident and am not able to launch NIS 2009 until I reboot. Once reboot, will have the same problem when I go to the settings UI. I've tried removing NIS 2009 and reinstalling with the procedure above and same problem persists.
Does anyone encounter the same problem? Is it because of my symNRT use and removal procedure? Got this procedure from symantec when I have an installation problem within NIS 2008 last year. Can anyone help?
I've contacted symantec with the One Touch Support and the technician was of no help.
Thanx for your feedback.
Am able to resolve sync problem by uninstalling WMDC and reinstalling WMDC again.. solution from threat http://community.norton.com/norton/board/message?board.id=nis_feedback&thread.id=8185&view=by_date_ascending&page=1
However, still unable to resolve my issue 2nd problem with XP Pro SP3. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
