"unable to validate subscription code"

Can anyone help?  I've been trying to validate my new subscription code for 2 hours.  I keep getting the message above.  Norton chat won't work on either of my computers.  Norton email won't accept the product key I have (so it won't send).  I refuse to pay $10 to wait half an hour to speak to someone about their product not working.  I'm getting really fed up and on the point of requesting a refund.  The barriers to making contact with Norton are very frustrating.
