I have a until-a-few-months-ago-month virgin sony vaio laptop, with WLAN off-on switch, WIN XP, with wifi in it. Got it in 2004. It has NIS 2004 and NAV 2004. Icons for both in tray. Disabling the NAV also disables the NAV part in the NIS suite. Laptop was in storage 2004 til few months ago.
At one point last month, disabling the NAV, i was able to connect to internet on wifi and update the definitions. Subscription expires in 2/2010, at which point, i'll upgrade. Now I cant connect to wifi even disabling the NAV. I do not know if NAV 2004 and NIS 2004 are conflicting with one another because theyre redundant. As far as I know, the Windows Firewall is disabled.
How do I fix this and connect to wifi? I'm reluctant to leave the laptop exposed by uninstalling or disabling both NIS 2004 and NAV 2004. it doesn't matter if I use Explorer/Safari/Firefox or Opera browsers.
