I am having continuous unathorised access attempts on my computer which are blocked by Norton Internet Security. The severity is Medium. From Advanced History Details the most common attacks have the following info
Actor - IOBIT\Advanced System Care 5\ascservice.exe
Target - Program Files\Norton Utilities 14\RMTray.exe
Action - Access process data or Open process token or Set registry security key
There are others.
The activity is IPS Deection Statistical Submission.
I don't make much sense of any of this.
I have recently downloade the latest update for IOBIT Advance System and use it regularly but I can't understand why IOBIT continuously wish to access my computer
Norton is fully up to date. Should I be concerned about this or should I just leave Norton to deal with the problem.
Any feedback would be welcome
There is no problem, and nothing is attacking your computer. This is Nortons self-defense, it's tampering protection. Whenever another program or process reads one of Nortons files or processes, it is blocked, and a message like this is logged. It does not mean malicious activity, just that another program has come into contact with NIS - a file, a folder or a process. You don't have to do a thing and can safely ignore these.
Thank you. That's reassuring. I should have mentioned that I think I have been a victim of a scam and this activity has increased since then. I will keep an eye on it.
Hi jake6278,
Advanced System Care 5 is a registry cleaner that you appear to have installed. It is trying to access Norton Utilities, which is also a registry cleaner. This may cause conflicts and could cripple your system.
I hope this helps.
Thanks, Dave.
