Unblocking port 2869 for SSDP event notification, is this wise?

Hello,

I recently purchased a new router. Its log has been filling up (100's a day) with the same message "Month DD HH:MM:SS miniupnpd[722]: upnp_event_process_notify: connect(192.168.1.233:2869): Connection timed out". I discovered that this means my main computer (ip 192.168.1.233) has been blocking port 2869 for SSDP event notification. I assume (bad thing on my part) that it's Norton Security that's doing this. I would like to discover why and if it would be wise to open port 2869 for SSDP event notification. My previous router never had these messages in its log. I am just curious. Thank you for any responses.
