Unblocking software from accessing internet

I just installed software which needs to access the internet, but Norton Internet Security seems to be blocking the software (V 20.4.0.40).   How do I permit this software to access the internet?

Hi,

That sounds a bit unusual. Have you rebooted since the download and install of the new software?

Keep us posted

Hi SalisburySenior

In the firewall add it to the programme control.

That should not be necessary.

What software are you trying to use?

Do all other programs have any trouble accessing the internet?

Thanks to both replies.   Yes, I rebooted the computer.    The software will access the internet if I turn off the firewall, but I need some help on how to add the specific software to the firewall 'do not block' list.

No other programs are having trouble accessing the internet except 'Renonyx - Buckview Acvanced' software.  http://www.reconyx.com/page.php?id=200

The following seems to be a message related to the blocking activity.   How do I allow the Reconyx software to access the internet?

Try going into the SmartFirewall settings. Click on Settings - Network - Smart Firewall, and click on configure beside Program Rules.  Scroll down until you find the existing rule for Renonyx. Select that rule and then click Remove, then click Apply.

Restart your computer, then try to run the Renonyx software again, and the Smart Firewall should create a new rule for the software. See if this helps the situation.

Peterweb -   Your solution probably would work under normal circumstances.    I spoke at great length with a person at Norton (in India) and she determined there was a problem with my Norton installation after unsuccessfully trying the solution you mentioned.   As a result, the Norton software was uninstalled and then re-installed.  That  solved the problem.   The Norton person initially tried to find the Reconyx software blockage within Norton using remote control of my computer and in the process determined the Norton software wasn't working properly.
