Hello everyone,
Today i had a problem with Norton 360 v6 and i had contacted Norton Support about the issue. Unfortunatly they couldn't fix it at the time, but later i found the solution, so i though it would be good to share it with you all.
The issue i had was with the automatic Disk Optimalisation in the PC Performance part of the Dutch version of Norton 360 (called "PC Afstelling -> Schijfoptimalisatie").
The error that i got was "Fout - Station D" (in English: "Error - disk D:" ) which was weird cause previous errors from Norton have numbers in them.
The man/woman from support visited my pc externally and ran the Disk Error check and Disk Defrag from the disk information in Windows Explorer. Error check ran normally and found no errors but the Defrag didnt run at all. So it seemed a windows issue and not Norton Related, so the support session ended there.
Quick look on the internet made me realise that the Disk Defrag Windows Service might not be running and that was the case. So when i changed that from "Disabled" to "Manual" (or Automatic works too) the problem was solved. Now the optimalisation is running and all is well.
I would have thought that the support would know that but i don't mind. I'm glad i found out and hope that it will solve other peoples problems. Though the error message might be a bit vague and should be changed to "Disk Defrag service not running" or something. Or perhaps have norton put it on again.
I don't know why it was disabled (cant remember if i did it myself) but it was weird that Norton didn't pick it up. Anyways, glad it works again like a charm.
