Hello All,
Back in May I had a case of what I suspect a rootkit. The virus/rootkit installed malware, changed DNS, and disabled Microsoft Security Essentials. Norton AntiVirus 2011 could not find it, nor did few other antivirus and antimalware software. I reset the computer to a system restore point before the virus was installed, and everything seamed to be back to normal. However, since May, I had two cases where the computer speaker broadcasted an Ad as audio, without popus or anything else. I suspect that I have a rootkit and I was wondering if someone could tell me how to get a definitive answer without formatting the laptop.
