I have an old computer that I'm in the process of wiping before I give it to charity. When I started deleting files and directories I discovered that in every program directory on the computer there are two files that, if deleted will always return. I've isolated it down to the print spooler. The spooler seems to be infected with a virus that recreates these files if they are deleted.
This is an old tower computer that is running Windows XP. It was protected with Norton AV, but neither Windows defender or Norton AV detected this virus. This has got to be an old virus as I haven't used this computer since I closed down my home office two years ago.
Have you seen this one before? If not, do you want the hard drive from this computer for analysis? It's just a 30gb drive and not worth beans, so I don't mind parting with it.
