I've been a Kaspersky IS user for a number of years now but each year there seems to be something else that doesn't work correclty and usually it requires some functionality in KIS to be turned off in order that other functions on the PC work correclty.
I am now looking at changing to Norton IS but just want to check whether some of the problems I am having with KIS may or may not be an issue with NIS as well.
The following are the main issues with KIS2012:
- Windows System Restore does not work. K's solution is to un-instal KIS, reboot and then do the SR and then re-instal KIS. Have SRs ever been an issue with NIS as well?
- I have Outlook 2010 installed, however, the KIS email spam filter will not work and has to be turned off. Kaspersky say this is because I have MailWasher installed, even though it is not running. Would this be an issue with NIS as well? Does MailWasher have any other adverse effects on NIS?
- I also have Malwarebytes Pro installed. Does this program have any known effects on NIS.
- KIS has a PC idle scan system so that when the PC has not be used for a period of time it will carry out some scans of the drives. I have noticed that after KIS's idle scan starts the PC freezes when I move the mouse to activate the computer again. I have had to turn-off this function in KIS in order to stop the PC freezing. Are there any similar background scans or functionality in NIS that may casue the same thing.
Most of the time whenever I have contacted Kaspersky Tech help they always state that any issues I have are because I have Mailwasher installed.
What are my chances that the above issues will be there when I move to NIS? I hope they aren't an issue because I have read so many good reports about NIS and am keen now to make the change.
