I have had to reinstall my operating system on my XP twice now due to malware disquised as antivirus and other programs that claim to help your PC that all come from the company "Uniblue". I was wondering if Norton could identify the Trojans and other viruses and "scamware" that Uniblue distributes and create a patch to defend against them.

[EDIT: changed subject as not to imply that the product is malware]

I think that it’s “Uniblue Registry Booster” in particular. There’s information on the web warning people about Uniblue, just google search “Uniblue Scam”

From what I’ve read of the product, it doesn’t sound like it falls into the category of Misleading Application. From the looks of the situation, it had some bugs in early versions, and their support team is working with customers to resolve them and/or remove the application. Have you tried contacting their support about the issue you’re having with it?

Try downloading the Uniblue Programs, see if there is any known malware in them.

Or just download them on a junk computer and monitor it.

Hi there,

It’s Reuben here from the Uniblue Support Team. We appreciate all feedback and comments and take it all seriously.

I can assure you that there is no malware, spyware or anything malicious contained in RegistryBooster, or any other Uniblue product.

There were some bugs in an older version, but that was rectified a while ago.

If you have any difficulty whatsoever with RegistryBooster, the  Support Team at Uniblue has a policy to respond to queries within 24 hours, except on weekends and during extremely busy periods, when this is pushed to a maximum of 48 hours.

You can post any queries to the support team via the link here: http://www.liutilities.com/support/ticket/

If you have any other questions, you can email Uniblue at this email address: hilaryr@uniblue.net

Regards,

Reuben

There are several out there so it is difficult to tell but most of them are being caught by Norton. Could you please tell me which one this was?
