Uninstall and Remove Password Protected Norton Files

Hello - after not being able to get rid of the crypto component of Norton, I switched to another antivirus program.  When I uninstalled Norton and installed the new antivirus program, I found out there are 79 Norton files that the new program could not delete because they were password protected.

How do I get rid of these files?  I know this is related to the crypto component, because I had Norton on 3 other computers that did NOT have the crpyto component and none of these computers had the password protected files.

I left Norton because of this unwanted program, and now it seems I still can't get away from it.  Please advise.

What files are password protected? This does not sound like a Norton issue. Norton does not password protect files on computers.

You can try downloading and running the Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool  from   www.norton.com/nrnr  and use the Advanced Options > Remove Only.  If it will not run, or find no Norton installation, try installing a trial version of Norton and then running  nrnr again.

Thanks for your reply.  I didn't use the removal tool, as I hadn't used the computer with the password protected files in quite a while and my Norton subscription had expired.  I had been a Norton customer for over 10 years, so it's unfortunate the unwanted crypto situation occurred that caused me to find a new provider happened, but since it did, what I would like is to remove all traces of Norton - is there a way to do that?

Just an FYI. The crypto exe files were removed with an recent update. So if you had kept your Norton up to date, and you had not been using crypto, it would have been removed already.

What files are you trying to remove? Just an example of what you are trying to remove. Are you actually being asked for a password, or are you just being denied access?

How did you uninstall Norton? Did you use the Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool using the Advanced Options > Remove Only option?
