Uninstall Norton Family

My son's Norton Family is no longer working.  It will not start as usual.  I have tried to uninstall the software but when I go to add remove and uninstall, nothing happens.  I have placed Windows 8 in safe mode and disconnected the network cable and nothing happens when attempting an uninstall.  Is there an uninstaller, or a manual method?  Thanks

Since NF stopped working my son's pc no longer connects to the internet.  DNS issues.  Is there an off line installer?  Can I manually remove it?

Hi,

The Norton Family team has released an update 2.9.0.26 via Automatic LiveUpdate.  We believe we have resolved the internet connectivity issue.  You will be asked to reboot your machine when the update is available to your machine via the LiveUpdate.  Please retest and let us know if you are still experiencing the issue.

Thanks for your patience,

The Norton Family Team

So my son's pc will not connect to the internet.  How can I install this on my pc?  Please advise.

Hi srstmss,

Please let us know what security products and versions, (like Norton 360) you have on the monitored PC?

Norton Family is not compatible with the following security products https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20090508145137EN_EndUserProfile_en_us

Thanks,

Katie

All my Norton products are the ones offered my Comcast.

Norton Security Suite 24.4.0.40

Oops.....20.4.0.40

I am pretty sure my son's Windows 8 machine isn't working any more either.  I never get updates any more either.

Hi srstmss,

To remove Norton Family from the PC:

Restart computer, before windows logo comes up press and hold F8, Windows will ask to boot into Safe Mode; choose Safe Mode without networking.

When safe mode Windows comes up, go to control panel.

On Windows XP:

  1. Click on Start
  2. Select “Control Panel”
  3. Click on “Add or Remove Programs”

On Windows Vista / Windows 7:

  1. Click on Start
  2. Select “Control Panel”
  3. Click on “Uninstall a program"

On Windows 8:

  1. Click on apps
  2. Select “Control Panel”
  3. Click on “Uninstall a program"

  • Select Programs and Features.
  • In the list of currently installed programs, select the Norton Family, and then click Remove or Uninstall
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.
  • When the uninstall completes, restart the computer.

Thanks,

Katie

Katie,

Read through my posts.  I have already performed what you ask.  It will not uninstall.  It will not run.  I can't connect this pc to the internet.  I need to manually uninstall.  Please send me a way to manually uninstall.  My son would like to do homework on his pc.  I can use open dns, windows fam safety or my routed to filter, but I like your product.  Last chance.

Hi srstmss,

Thanks for the update.  The reason I sent you the steps in my previous post was to make sure you have tried the steps to uninstall the program.  Please remove the folder below to see if it helps.

Windows 8: C:\Users\Public\Downloads\Norton\{NF22-B22-4abb-B07C-C084B04B4F12}

Thanks,

Katie

Katie, still getting computer not connecting dns issues.  So, removing that folder (which was similar to the one you posted) was an uninstall?  If so, I'll try some other things to solve and check back.  Still getting dns errors.

Hi srstmss,

Just want to make you sure we understand you correctly.    You mentioned "...still getting computer not connecting dns issues".  Is it related to the issue that  you are not able to uninstall Norton Family?  What exact message you get when you are having the "dns" issue?

Thanks,

Katie

By the way srstmss, I am having a similar problem which is unfortunately most similar in that I have yet to receive any workable solution.  Please let me know if you acquire a method for uninstalling NFC without having a connection to their server.  I'll do the same. Thanks.

Hi Eclectic8,

You reported an issue that you are getting error message when logging onto your Norton Family account in another thread in the forum.  The Norton Family team is working on the issue.  Is the question you have here the same as that one?

Thanks,

Katie

Hi Eclectic8,

The team has corrected the issue for your account.  Please check it when you get a chance and let us know if it works for you.

Thanks,

Katie
