I need some assistance, with a recent installation of Norton Internet Security 2009. I was pleasantly surprised to see, that a Norton Alert gave me an option to upgrade to NIS 2009 (from my previous NIS2007/2008). I took this option, and clicked on the provided link, to download & install the new version (on my desktop). The first time I had to boot-up my computer after this installation, I encountered a window (during the boot-up), that gave me two options - for a complete uninstall/removal, or a partial(?) uninstall. This was quite confusing, since I had NOT tried to perform an uninstall!! (Why would anyone, after just installing the program!) Thankfully, there was a "Cancel" link at the bottom left hand corner, which I clicked on. This 'problem' window has not occurred on future boot-ups (of my desktop).
Now to the problem....
I have also taken advantage of the same type of Norton Alert, encountered on my wife's laptop. (Both of our machines, are running Windows XP Home Edition.) I followed the same procedure I'd done, during the successful install to my desktop. Once again, on the first boot-up after installation, I encountered this window asking me for a selection of one of two uninstall options. I clicked on the "Cancel" link, figuring this would cure my problem again. Sadly, it has not! This 'uninstall' window has consistently cropped up (during the boot-up sequence) every time the laptop has been booted-up!! This both extremely annoying, and totally unnecessary.
Does anyone have any thoughts/ideas, on how to stop this from happening? Has anyone else encoutered this?
