Uninstall

How to uninstall the Norton Suite? System says it's running, wait until it stops.Waited,

  Hello TeeAich.

There are several ways to uninstall Norton. The simpliest way is to find the "Symantec Uninstaller" on your machine that you should be able to find in Symantec Solutions folder in the Applications folder. Otherwise you can download it from the link below.

ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/products/norton_antivirus_mac/ver9.0/updates/symantec_uninstaller_102.sit

If that does not work or you run in to some problem you can always use "RemoveSymantecMacFiles" instead. Please follow the instructions on the link below.

I would like to uninstall Norton Identity Safe stand alone version. I use iOS and just wanted to make sure that it's just a simple removal. I do not want to lose my current PW's ect.

I installed the Mac version back about 3 weeks ago while it was available. When it did work it was "ok". I just think there are a lot of bugs still to be worked out that I don't have time to work around. One of those bugs is that if the online site is having issues, so is everything else. The online version is in a constant loop. Once I enter my vault pw, it goes to the screen with all of my info but it immediately goes into a loop back to the main screen and repeats. All the while I am unable to enter my vault pw on the computer in order to populate pw's.

Now after uninstalling (actually a CSR from Norton did) Identity Safe and then doing a restart, I am unable to get rid of the vault pw prompt. Safari wants to use the "IDSafe" keychain. Please help!

Hi,

It might be due to you still being logged into IDSafe when you uninstalled it on your Mac. Can you try these steps? Thanks.

  1. Open the Keychain Access app (Applications -> Utilities ->Keychain Access)
  2. On the left side of the window, in the “Keychains” frame, right click IDSafe
  3. Click “Delete Keychain ‘IDSafe’”
  4. Restart Safari

Regards,

Albert

Well...

I did that but now none of the site that require login is populating pw, ect.

Hi,

Can you clarify which passwords are not auto-filling?

  1. Safari passwords never imported to IDSafe
  2. Safari passwords imported to IDSafe
  3. IDSafe passwords from the PC or portal

Regards,

Albert

Safari imported to IDSafe. Some work, some do not. (very odd).

Hi,

We'll look into this internally. For now time being you might need to re-enter your passwords again for those that are not working. If you've forgotten your login/password you can still access them on the Identity Safe Portal:

https://identitysafe.norton.com

Sorry for this issue that you're seeing. We'll research this internally and see if there's a change we need to make.

Regards,

Albert

I would love to grab those passwords from the portal however as stated earlier, I get hung into a constant loop and I am unable to.

Hi,

Does this issue also occur when logging into the website? Can you try the below:

1) Go to this website: https://identitysafe.norton.com/

2) Click on the 'Sign In' link on the top-right corner.

3) Log into Norton Account and Online Vault.

Regards,

Albert

Yes, that is where the looping occurs.

Once I get to step 3, that is when it starts looping after I click submit.

Hi,

Do you mind sending the screen shot?

Can you please confirm exactly which one is going in the loop - Login to ID Safe (using Sign in as Albert mentioned previously) or the Vault Login pwd.

Thanks,

Sukanthi

I honestly do not know how to send a screenshot of the loop since it's loops?

Here are the steps I take just the same as the next person that trys to log in.

  1. Go to:  https://identitysafe.norton.com/
  2. Click Sign in (upper right)
  3. Enter Email and Password
  4. Click Sign In
  5. Open your vault pops up - Enter Vault password
  6. Click Open Vault

It then pulls up my vault for a split second and then begins the loop. It goes back to to https://identitysafe.norton.com/, then goes through everything else automatically all the way to my vault, then repeats. Yesterday it was doing it nonstop, today it loops three times and I now get an error to contact support.

"Error!

An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again, if the error persists please contact customer support."

Edit: Tried to help with screenshot, but realized I do not know Mac's

I can grab a screenshoot but it wouldn't be helpful because there isn't anything to see. I think I may have found one issue. Since I am on a Apple device it uses Safari. I believe the issue is with the type of browser. I tried it on Firefox, same computer and I was able to pull up my vault without any problems.

Now my issue is this...

Since Norton made the descision to drop MacOS support for Indentity Safe and Identity Safe basically trashes the Mac Keychain. I'm now having to go into every single site flipping back and forth re-entering all of them again before installing IDSafe. Very poor product seeing that it never really worked to begin with (never populated in the correct fields).

Thank you.

One last thing, is it possible to recover things from a full image backup without restoring the entire image?
