Hi all -
I am running a system with XP, SP3 and was logged out into the Welcome Screen when I noticed that a user named "Support" was added to the user list several hours later. NIS 2009 and Malwarebytes scans are clean.
This "Support" user login was created with Administrator privileges and was password protected.
No one had physical access to this dedicated, wired system via Cable Modem. No new application or utility software was installed.
Microsoft "Critical Updates" were up-to-date.
I removed the account and ran the above scans again, with clean results.
Any ideas? Security hole? This one has got me. My IP address is static.
