Unsuccessful Registration

I have tried repeatedly to register here  https://onlinefamily.norton.com/familysafety/register.fs and always get the message "An error occurred while trying to create new account."

I've tried to guess the error - since there is no indication - but have been unsuccessful. I am about as web savvy as they come so I am stumped. Any ideas?

As far as I see that is the same place I've been trying to register. I tried and received the same message: An error occurred while trying to create new account.

Are you only allowing people located inside the US to register perhaps? i am currently outside the US.

As an Internet addiction expert, I'd appreciate the opportunity to evaluate the product and see how it can help familes.

This might sound like an obvious question, but are you setting the COUNTRY field to the country you are in?

Yes - I have tried to set it both as the country I am currently in AND the US. Neither work. It would be interesting if you would block people for entering a country that they are not in -- and more interesting of giving a generic error message " An error occurred while trying to create new account." just to confuse them.

Have you tried it yourself to see if it works -- do you have daily registrations? Am I the only one reporting a problem?

Hi Sheryl,

First of all, you can register on OnlineFamily.Norton no matter where you are as long as you have internet connection. Please check the date on your child’s PC (Start/Control Panel/Date and Time).  It fails to register your PC with OnlineFamily is probably because the certificate is not valid. Maybe the year is not set correctly.  Please change it to 2009 if that's the case.

Please give us an update.

Thanks,

Katie
