A client had this error show up on a dual boot system which only has Windows Vista 64-bit and Windows 7 64-bit; as you can see in the included screenshot NPE states it cannot scan Windows 8 from a previous version of Windows even though the scan attempt was being done in Windows 7 to scan the Windows Vista installation (both operating systems are clean the user was just verifying the program was working). The computer system has never even had any of the beta builds of Windows 8 on it nor has it had Windows 8 RTM on it. So why would the NPE program even state such a thing?

I was able to reproduce the issue only twice so far on my own system using a previous version of NPE (note at the bottom). The system configuration I have is multi-boot with Windows XP Professional SP3 32-bit, Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 64-bit and Windows 7 SP1 64-bit; Core i7 960, nVidia GeForce GT 430 w/ 2GB memory and 12GB system memory.
Open NPE> click the Advanced option> select the Scan Now option under the Multi-Boot section and select either Windows Vista or Windows XP Professional.
The client's system (as provided to me by the client) is similar to mine with the exception that they have Core i7 950, nVidia GeForce GT440 1GB memory and 8GB system memory installed OSes are the same.
I haven't seen this issue as of yet in the newest release of NPE but I'm still waiting on my client to let me know if they've installed the latest version or not.
