Update recovery points

I have been using Ghost 15 for many years on several computers (2 win xp and 1 win 7) and it has saved me from a bad software install on a few occasions. I don't use file/folder backup, I just do 'One off image backup' (to an usb external hdd) before I do a major change like installing new software or updates. If it stuffs-up my system or I don't like the new software, I just over-write it with the image backup.

Recently my external backup drive was playing up so, before it dies on me, I decided to replace it with a new bigger one (1 TB). I transferred all the recovery points (using Windows explorer) and I gave the new drive the exact same label and drive letter as the old one had. The thinking was that Ghost would just connect to it as it is the same location and drive letter - Alas that was not the case! Ghost found the drive, but not the backup images (using 'Manage Backup Destination'). I am able to find them by using 'Recovery Point Browser' from within the Window program and I can also find them by loading the CD application (I can probably restore them from the CD, but I haven't tried yet).

After reading some post, I realized that I should have use 'Ghost' to copy them to the new drive!? Now I would prefer NOT to copy them back to the old drive and then copy them to the new drive with 'Ghost' because: a) There are lots of Gbs, and 2) I'm afraid that the old drive could die during the process and don't want to take that chance.

Any suggestion on how I can resolve my problem?
