Norton 2010 was installed on three computers (mine, my dad's and my brother's). When i ran a live updtae it failed twice. The message said that my version of Norton was out of date but as a subscriber i was entitled to a free upgrade. I must confess to not fully reading the terms and conditions as i was concerned by the big red x that was telling me i was not fully protected.
The update went without any problems until i restarted and found that my computer has become unusable, it had gone from running smoothly to being almost totally unresponsive. After several attempted fixes i did a system restore which resulted in a messy un-install of Norton 2011. I was unable to restore Norton 2010 and eventually had to delete Norton from my computer (all traces now lie in the recycle bin) although the security center tells me that Norton firewall is still running. The online update does not recognise any version of Norton (although it did after the messy un-install, so i re-installed the 2011 version just to make sure that it didn't work with my laptop which does in fact meet the system requirements.
To make things even worse my Brother (200+ days left) and Dad (100+ days left) saw their licenses reduced to 45 days even though they are still running Norton 2010 (my useless 2011 license was also for 45 days). So all in all this has been a disaster. What puzzles me further is that neither of them suffered a failed update which said that a free upgrade was necessary.
Is there anything i can do?
