I exeprienced the problem with Live Update yesterday. I was running the latest version of NIS, 16.7.2.10. After the update failed I was forwarded to chat support who then connected remotely with my pc. The technician tried to use LIve Update but it still didn't work, so, remotely, he uninstalled NIS and reinstalled it. Live Update still didn't work.
Finally he advised me that there was a problem with the servers and I should try Live Update again in 24 to 48 hours. Meanwhile Norton was showing that my last update was 189 days ago.
Well, I ran live update this morning and it did run and downloaded 4 updates. However, I noticed now have the older version 16.5.0.135 installed. I ran Live Update again and there was no download of the latest version. As I use Firefox 3.5 I want the latest version.
So, I went to the Norton webiste and was advised that there was a later version. I downloaded this which meant uninstalling and reinstalling again and the version is still 16.5.0.135. I ran Live Update again and this time it downloaded 10 updates but still no new version.
I have run the hotfix tool to at least get the Norton toolbar back but the IPS add-on in Firefox is still disabled as it is the older version of Norton.
My question is, does anyone know how I can get back to the latest version of Norton I was previously running as LIve Update doesn't seem to want to do it.
I'm a bit cheesed off as if the technician hadn't unistalled my original version of Norton I would still have the latest version and Live Update would presumably have run this morning now the server problem has been fixed. I had no problem downloading 16.7.2.10 through Live Update when it was released.
Thanks for any help. I won't be able to reply 'til this evening as I'm at work today.
