Update today: NIS 2014, from 21.7.0.11 to 22.5.0.124; Windows 7

Hi. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium with NIS 2014. Because I am so thoroughly confused about the upcoming Windows 10 update and compatibility issues with our Norton products, I inadvertently did an update today from NIS version 21.7.0.11 to version 22.5.0.124, and this has caused not only further confusion on my part but it has caused many things to change and not for the better. I have done my fair share of reading all forum material on this, and am getting even more confused; have I done something wrong and if so, since I do not have Windows 10 (yet), should I do something to correct or reverse this? I have said several times in other posts that I am not computer literate. And I cannot find one article that will summarize all of this mounting material we need to learn so we do not get ourselves in this position.....  I am pretty sure I am not the only person having this problem. Please direct me to someone or something that can help!  I know some basic questions can be answered here, but don't there exist one or two comprehensive articles, or sites, to contact that can direct this computer dummy in the right direction, and also help us better understand other issues too complicated to even mention in here?

I did contact our live chat a couple of weeks ago after my subscription renewed through Symantec. I have a paid version, as I did before renewing, not just the free services provided via my internet provider. And I also get the strange feeling that there is confusion about my so called trial period ending, not a trial at all, and was instructed to download to update, not upgrade....so I did. And now I am, as I said, lost. I cannot even seem to access settings to turn on cost awareness......there is no such thing after my update, and almost all security history was either deleted or removed. That is just the beginning of the issues at hand; there are many more including the Vault. Live Chat, two weeks ago, told me my system was fine, subscription status active, and that I would not need to download nor activate anything, then or in the future to make sure my newly renewed 2 year NIS 2014 product would remain the "same". I had originally purchased NIS via another site, but paid for my renewal through Symantec as of this month on auto renewal. I know I may also have to contact our chat support team again, but I am not sure they can educate me on everything that is going on, etc.....in the way I need to know and learn.

I need to know what to do, if anything, and it may be helpful for those like me to know where to go and what to do to learn what I have summarized above. I am just guessing it has something to do with the  Windows 10 upgrade, which I have not even reserved yet. And to make sure I am now not just running another free trial version through my internet provider as per the download and update today by mistake. I did look at my account and it said all was active and current; and renewal was not up again until 6/2017. But I am missing something.  Thank you for your help and patience......and I apologize if this sounds convoluted, but frankly I feel that way myself! What should I do to find answers to all of this???????
