I was using the Norton software I got through comcast on my older laptop and soon realized that as soon as I connected it to the internet the updater would initialize instantly and continue to run for a minimum of 15 minutes rendering the laptop useless for that time. Whether it was off for 2 days 2 hours or 2 minutes as soon as an internet connection was established the updater started. This last time The updater turned on the hard drive failed. It was old and well used but after doing a little research I found out that the updater running way to long seems to be a relatively prominent problem with this software and older computers. I never had this problem when comcast had McAfee, and will be looking for another security provider.
