I just starting using ‘Norton Community’, so bear with me,
Three days ago, some type of root-tool highjacker hit my computer and deposited a Trojan Downloader on the machine. It defeated my NIS2009 and blocked access to any secure web sites, including Norton and Microsoft updates. I called Norton Virus Removal Support Team (a fixed cost telephone service from Norton) and these people are great. After some difficulty, a technician was able to access my machine remotely and perform a physical search to remove suspected virus files. He then placed a small utility on my machine to run a complete scan for unwanted files. After the repair process, NIC2009 was then accessible; however, after some research I discovered that the virus had corrupted certain functions in my NIS2009 (the “Program”).
Yesterday I completely uninstalled and reinstalled the Program and updated it to include the latest 16.1.0.33 update. Now, when I manually initiate “Run LiveUpdate” in the Program window, the Program will download and install an “update” every five minutes or so,. I cannot understand why Norton would have that many updates available on a continuous basis, is that a problem in the Program on my machine or possibility a glitch in programming?
I appreciate any comments.
