Confirmed: errorcode is 8920,212
Thank you for the confirmation, as I mentioned Symantec is aware of this issue and they are working on this. Hopefully the issue will be addresses within 24 hours.
i checked a new NIS Installation on a clean XP system , no Updates working , all failed.
Well, this is a new one. Why wait 24hrs for a fix?
Usually it takes a couple of hours and it's back on track again.
Finally, if it's a server problem how come we get the pulse and the Auto LiveUpdate?
Thanks.
TrDo.
I recently bought Norton Security 2009 and run it on windows xp. A few weeks ago my live updates failed. I went through all sorts of things to fix it. Not even sure how I fixed it now. But they began working.. for a while.. Now today I am having the same issue again. I finally contacted live tech support people here and was told that this has been happening to alot of people and that they are working on fixing the problem, that i should try using live update again in 24 hours to see if it works then.
I see here 2 patches were supposed to be sent out a while ago (each an upgrade to new version that were to be installed using the live update. I never got either of those patches. it shows I am still running a version from before the first updated version! (nice)
the live tech suppor guy (RAJA) told me they were sorry for all the inconvience this issue has been causing. I think Symantic should give us all a FREE month or two added onto our subscriptions for all of this inconvience. I have spent hours trying to fix this issue (twice now) and my time is valuable!
Anyhoo.. hopefully my live updates will install ok in 24 hours.
Happy Holidays everyone!

Another question,
Why is it, on this laptop, Vista PH and NAV 2009 v.16.2.0.7, there are no issues. Liveupdate works perfectly.
Note, it seems that for me the problem has been resolved on the two remaining pc's . Liveupdate just delivered a Security Content A update.
After waiting it out, mine is fixed. I successfully ran a manual Live Update and an automatic update has been done as well.
I think I am going to cease being so neurotic and running them manually. Checking on my Norton only seems to give me an ulcer a week.
[edit: removed mistaken image link.]
Updates now work but Webprotection failed , i try Webprotection Reset Tool but one of Webprotection Update failed again ...

Hi everyone,
I received the 16.2 patch, it seems like the patch has been rolled out
Can everyone run LiveUpdate and let us know that you receive the 16.2 patch and it resolves the issue what we are discusiing here.
Vineeth--
Just received the update on the last two Nav2009 machines. Btw, the first time I run liveupdate, it downloaded just one file ; Engine Dll Fallback. The second time it downloaded the 16.2 patch.
Seems like the only updates that I`am not getting are:
Norton 2009 Web Protection Definitions
Well....the same problem with the web protecion here again, in lovely germany :/
I started manual LU as well, the pulse updates running fine, but nothe web protections.
But my experience showed me, that I just should sit down and drink a hot cup of tea, right?
My system:
Windows XP SP3 FF 3.0.5
NIS09DE Version 16.1.0.33

I just received the 16.2 patch and now I get all the updates okay, even web protection.
The issue seems to be resolved. The Manual Live Update Defs are now being installed.
Vineeth: Btw, I had 16.2, and was facing this issue. Hey, I started this thread, now I come to think of it.
What makes you say, that with 16.2 this issue will go away. It's still here with the 16.2. But not for 24hrs. As usual, for a couple of hours.
Thanks.
TrDo.
Hi Trdo,
My issue was resolved with the 16.2 patch. so I thought the issue also got resolved along with the patch.
Thank you for correcting me.
Vineeth--
I thank you, Vineeth, for accepting the correction.
Thanks again.
TrDo.
Re: Norton 2009 Web Protection Definitions
Update problem seems to be corrected.
Cheers
Hello guys,
my problems with LU are solved, too. I've finally got the new 16.2.7 patch from Norton and my LU runs fine, all way through ;D
I hope, that no one else has the problem anymore, too!
Merry christmas and a happy new year from eastern germany !
