Updates not processing

For the last 7 days my Internet Security updates fail while processing. I contacted Norton Support and they installed a new program. What happens is it checks for updates then it downloads updates then it sits on the processing for a while then it fails. I run it again it downloads 1 update and tells me that my product is up to date. Is my product up to date? Why does it fail on the processing part quite often? I have windows 8.1 and  I am using Norton Internet Security. Does anybody else have this problem?  Thanks
