Judging by the posts on this Board, a lot of NIS 2011 users have encountered serious difficulties, following this update. This is something Symantec try very hard to avoid and I am certain that, when testing the version that was received by those, customers, no problems arose in those tests.
I, and probably millions of others like me, downloaded this update a few days ago and have seen nothing untoward, since then, on our computers.
I presume that the problem arises with a certain combination of software on the computers which have experienced the catastrophe.
When Symantec is producing a new version of a Norton program, they spend many months working with a Beta version, not only to iron out any bugs but also to give us all a chance to suggest improvements.
The Symantec team always go to considerable lengths to ensure their software not only does the best job possible, but is also trouble free.
Occasionally, things go wrong and then Symantec pull out all the stops to prevent as many of us as possible from downloading the problematic software and immediately try to solve the errors and repair the code so that a bug-free issue can be distributed.
Thank you, the Symantec team for trying so hard to protect us all.
Cheers,
drshlomo.
