If I upgrade to the "latest version" will I lose my local vault? I have been through absolute hell the last couple of days trying to get back to my previous version of 360 premier after an install of Norton Multi Device and losing my local vault after tech support uninstalled what I was running and doing a clean install of multi device. Total nighmare getting it back....if not for this forum, I couldn't have done it! I'm finally back to v6.4.1.14, deleted the online vault and have my local vault back (although not before losing all of my vault data, thanks to tech support uninstalling without asking me so I could back it up or tell them not to do it at all.) Before I started all this, I must have been running v20 because this version I have now has the appearance of an older one I had upgraded from. From what I have read on this forum, if I upgrade on top of v6, I will keep the local vault. Does that hold for v21 or has that only been tried for v20. I'm awfully leery about doing anything now, even if it means running an older version....sad that's the position this online vault decision by Norton has left me in. If it is not changed, this will be my last Norton product.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry for not providing any info in my post to go on. I am running Win 7 Pro SP1. I have located the IDDStor2.dat file in Program Data folder.
I'm almost afraid to be optimistic, but I can't help it! :)
Sorry for the delay in replying - but there are times real-life events have priority over volunteering here.
Lets try the rest of the recovery - since you found the IDDStor2.dat. I'll start from the beginning and this is based on your having Version 6 installed at present and will be importing the ID Safe data into V 6 prior to doing the oiver the top to V21.
Please be advised the numbers behind the N 360_ may be slightly different. Also the S-1-5-21 is a random generated number and the ending of it may be different from what I have shown below.
Also, please make sure you are logged out of your Vault before copying the folder to the new folder location. If you do not log out - the information you seek cannot be copied and it will throw an error.
Conversly, when you try to Import, you must be logged into the Vault in order to see the Import function.
The Program Data Folder may be hidden in windows 7. so first choose Computer -> organize -> folder and search options -> view -> show hidden files and folders -> apply
1. Copy the IdentitySafeDataStore folder to a new folder in a convenient location on your computer. I usually create a new folder on the desktop. 2. In the Identity Safe Settings Window select Import Data > Configure [+] Note you will have to login to your ID Safe in order to get the Import option. 3. In the Import Identity Safe Data window, 'Browse' to the new folder you just created in step 1 4. Double click the folder to open it and select the file IDDStore2 > Open. 5 .Under 'While importing data', select 'Merge with existing data' and click OK. You may be prompted to enter the password for the old data. 6. If you have changed any login credentials for a particular site since the older data was created, you will be presented with a Data Conflict window. Select which login version you wish to keep and click OK. 7. OK your way out and check that the merged logins have been added and are working.
No worries about a delay…I’m grateful for your help at your convenience. I followed your instructions and the importing process worked, however, no data was imported. When I try to view or edit a login, it says I have not saved any logins yet. During the import process it did ask for my password, which had been stored, but not the login data it accesses, it seems. The IDDStor2.dat file seems to be empty, as the file size is only 6kb.
Sorry to hear that uour IDDStore2.dat file appears empty. Mine is 211 KB, so 6 kb is not enugh for logins. As I said - no promises, but worth a try.
It seems the removal and clean install of Multi Device is what did away with the log ins. Only thing you can do now since you did not Export them prior to starting this adventure is to rebuild - I know a real PITA!
Hopefully in the future you wil Export on a regular basis and perhaps others can learn from your experience.
If you desire, you can still upgrade "over the top" to v 21 and rebuilt your Local Vault Log-ins in that version.
Let us know how things go or if you have any addtional questions.
PITA, absolutely, but I do have most, if not all of them backed up elsewhere, so it's just repopulating the vault...at least it's not lost completely...that would be so hideous. ((((shudder))))
I think I'm going to wait to upgrade for now. I'd like the newer version, but at this point I'm kind of in a "if it's not broken" mood. I don't have the time at the moment to work on fixing it if there are problems, so for the time being, I think I'll leave well enough alone. :) I'll give the upgrade a try and if I have any issues, I'll definitely be posting about it here!
Thanks so much for your help with this. It was absolutely worth a a shot, and I learned how importing to the vault works! Your time is very much appreciated!!!

Best to you!
The backup you have, is it pen and paper,or in some electronic file?
If you have a text file, or Excel file, you may be able to get it to import it to your ID safe.
