[Urgent] Norton Internet Security Blocks Google Websites Traffic

I’m using your Norton Internet Security 2013.

My computer is Windows 7 Home Premium. (Completely Updated)

Problem Subject:  Norton Internet Security Blocks Google websites traffic. (Time Out, Slow, Not Loading).

Whenever I open any Google sites, it is slow, and it is taking time to load. Actually I have 8MBps broad band plan. Other website is opening perfectly. Except Google sites and Indian Matrimonial websites.

  • In Google+, It is blocking clicking the +1 button. – After disabling “Smart Firewall” it is working.
  • In Google’s Blogger, It is not allowing me to publish the new blog post.  – After disabling “Smart Firewall” it is working.
  • While using Google AdWords, Every time I’m facing network issues. - But after disabling “Smart Firewall” it is working.
  • While using Indian Matrimony sites like shaadi.com, bharatmatrimony.com, it is very slow and often it goes for time out in some elements of those websites. - But after disabling “Smart Firewall” it is working.

Up to November 2012 I did not faced any problem. But after that, I am getting this kind of problem every day. I like smart firewall and it is blocking malware websites attacking my computer. But I can’t disable smart firewall every time manually while having paid antivirus software in my computer. :(

I’ve tested this in All browsers. Firefox, IE9, Opera and Google Chrome. Everywhere it is same only.

Kindly fix this issue ASAP.

Thanks,

Albert

Hi

Thanks for your respones.

I did not install any other security software in my computer.

But today in my Full System scan, it removed one high risk virus called “Packed.Generic.367”.
Virus Description page located here: http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2012-051604-0214-99

//  Packed.Generic.367 is a heuristic detection for files that may have been obfuscated or encrypted in order to conceal themselves from antivirus software. This heuristic detection is used to detect various threat families. //

So According to this virus, it may be did all those problem while surfing Google sites.

But I’m not sure about this. I will check this for one more week and post the impact here in this thread.

P.S: Between, Why I can’t able to chat with a real Norton Support executive in the support canter. Instead some kind of bot is sending automated reply to my message. That is really frustrating.

Still it is not ok. Whenever I browse Google sites it is slow only.

Between, So many times (After this problem) I noted annoying “High Memory Usage” alerts from Norton.

I opened only few tabs in Firefox browser. But I was opened more than 20+ tabs in Google Chrome browser. In this case Norton should only show “High Memory Usage” alert for Chrome. But it is showing it for Firefox.  It is really annoying alert from Norton. (Check the following Screenshot)

Can anyone from Norton Community (Norton Employees) respond to this problem?

Or anyone please advise, what is the best AV software equal to Norton? Can I go to new version of Avast Internet Security? (I have another 15 days left to renew my “Norton Internet Security” subscription. But looks like something is broken from Norton end and I’m suffering to get support from them.)

Hi,
It sounds like you are still infected with something. I recommend that you go to one of the free sites listed below and work with an expert there to get the problem resolved.

Malware removal isn't done in an open forum like this one. Be aware too that no single security program will keep you protected 100% of the time from 100% of the threats that are being released by the thousands daily.

If you elect to go to a different security program be sure to run the Norton Removal Tool

www.Norton.com/nrt

before you attempt to install the other program.

Keep us posted

Hi albs,

Did you check TaskManager to see the actual memory consumption of each browser?

Thanks dickevans.

I am going to remove Norton completely and re-install it. Let's see... Now computer is very slow. :(

@SendOfJive - Yes I checked Task Manager. But Chrome was consumed more process memory than Firefox.

Looks like I'm not the only person having this problem.

Previously some other people also got the same.

Hi,

Suspect that FF was the last in the line and therefore got the blame for pushing the limit.

I removed Norton AV using "Norton remover" and reinstalled again.

Whatever, It is only 11 days left to prove Norton is a Good AV.

Will update the status here. Thanks.

So After Re-installing Norton Internet Security I put it on "Full System Scan" and it found two high security risks and one tracking cookies. Remember before It did not find anything while Norton Internet Security itself infected (before removing Norton).

Do you think that virus is culprit to all of my computer problems?
