US based website thinks my computer is in Japan

Issue abstract: Have I been hacked?

Detailed description: I tried to browse a supplier website. When I found the parts I wanted, the website said that they had detected that my computer was in Japan and would I like to be redirected to their Japan web page. I declined, but it keeps asking me and eventually tried to force the switch, at which point I closed the window.

Product & version number: N360 Deluxe Plus (?)

OS details: Windows 10 on a Dell Laptop

What is the error message you are seeing? No error message from Norton or Malware Bytes but that’s scary in of itself. Why is it not recognizing an attempt to switch me to a Japan-based site?

If you have any supporting screenshots, please add them:

If you are using a VPN, what country is the VPN set to connect?

If you are referring to the image you posted, is that not a Japanese flag?

Yes - Japan - sorry.

Not using a VPN.

Edited the original. Thanks for pointing that out.

If you are not using a VPN, are you using a proxy or any other IP masking feature?

If not, I would contact the support page for that web site to ask what is happening.

optosigma.com

Thanks. I emailed their Sales director to ask about what was happening.

I tried accessing that site from Canada with no VPN. I did not get any redirect page.

@bjm Were you also redirected? Interesting that US IP’s getting tagged on a US Site???

@Spiny_Norman Please let us know what you find out.

No…not as I can see… /us_en/ → Accept → /us_en/

Note: @peterweb … I did not receive email notice from your @bjm

I did not get one for your @ peterweb. I have also not had any today from at least 3 other @ mentions.

@majorbuzz asked me add ping with my replies. I imagine @majorbuzz did not receive my pings.
