USB Duplication service claims Norton wipes flash drives with autorun

I run the media department at a small college. We have courses that are presentations on a USB drive.rings an

I use autorun.inf to launch a .bat file that brings an extra option up in the standard windows removable drive menu. From this, the user launches a flash projector, (.exe) or sometimes an html file.

We have had 1, 2, 4, & 8 GB drives that have failed on us in the past few months. Recently, I made hundreds and passed them out an a major meeting. Huge disaster....Files disapearing, corrupt. They reformatted on site and refilled them with the data, excluding the inf and bat file. The USB duplicator claimed that Norton was viewing the autorun as an attack and so therefore wiped the drive. To me this sounds like voodoo... I think it was bad hardware.

Is he nuts? Or is this possible....

I told him to recreate it and send me the security history log.
