Overall I am pleased that I bought Norton Internet Security 2012 but the user interface has some minor flaws. Take for example Settings > Network > Smart Firewall > Advanced Firewall > General Rules > (Click on any existing rule) > Modify > Communications and you will see that you can't even see the ports that have been added because the 'Port' field is virtually non-existant. If you look on the 'Computers' tab on the same 'Modify Rule' window you'll see how small the scroll window is to scroll through IP addresses.
Also the way some other items are presented such as 'Uncommon Protocols' could have been done better. Simply saying "The list below determines how the firewall handles various uncommon protocols on your computer", and then having the word 'Enabled' could mean that protocol is enabled to be blocked by the firewall, or enabled to be allowed through the firewall. Using terms like 'Block/Allow' would have been clearer. Using a numbered list or a tree structure on the 'General Rules' list or being able to see all the details in the description would have been better too so as to work out which rule overrides what. Apart from that it does the job.
