It has happened a couple of times according to the Norton history - it may be something completely innocent - when you try to remove it Norton does say 'this may not be a known internet threat' and then warns about the possible consequences of deleting the file.
I'm just a bit jumpy because a couple of high risk trojans tried to get into my system a couple of weeks ago (KillAV and Backdoor.Paproxy or something like that).
Norton does do System activity logging, even showing clean processes, or installations.
bye
Hi,
I'm a bit green on these things but thought it best to ask - when i start the pc up, in Norton's history it says userinit.exe has made modifications to the windows startup settings...norton has detected it as has it as a low risk but when i click remove i get a warning that i might damage something if i do.....help!
Thanks for putting my mind at rest

Hi Griller
userinit.exe is a windows file used to manage the startup, was it only this time that it made modifcations??
The file should be in the "C:\WINDOWS\system" folder.
If you delete the file next time you startup you won't be able to log in.
Thanks
