Hi. I'm trying to copy all files (and user accounts, settings,etc) from a Windows XP machine to a new Windows7 machine. The Windows Easy Transfer process moves files rather than copies them and I want to leave the XP machine in tact. Would restoring a backup of the XP machine to the Win7 machine work?
According to Microsoft Support the answer is "Easy Transfer copies files leaving the originals on the XP machine". So this question is now mute.
