It is safe to use Threatfire. It is a pretty great products I must admit
Not to knock Threatfire, but I'm under the impression that current Norton products (Threatfire was tested with NIS 2007 it says) do include predictive technology and does not depend only on signatures .....
I think you are wise to ask about possible conflicts.
thanks for the replies. But is additional security needed with NIS2008? If so what do you use? I did view NIS2008 as all i really needed until I read the Castlecop and Wilders Security forums. These people talk about programs like sandboxie,threatfire and a few others like they’re essential to the health of a PC. I’m just confused 
Personally, I have enough faith in Norton products to say that in my opinion those two programs are likely to duplicate. Whether on has a predictive method that is better than the other, I do not know.
Norton has not let me down in the past but then I have a hardware firewall -- my router -- and I am both careful where I go and cautious on clicking on links. I use the Internet Explorer Status Bar to show me the true nature of a link by holding the mouse over it.
See what a Norton Staffer has to add since they know how things work!

Please do not believe everything you read. These people just life to test all kinds of security software. They play all day and they test all day.
Over at these forums people love to give their opinion. Which is good. You can learn, but just don't believe everything ;)
You are fine with Norton2008. For extra defence you can try Threatfire or Nortons own Antibot. They both work pretty well
