Vault Questions Downgrading NIS 2013 to NIS 2012

I'm a bit confused about downgrading from Identity Safe in NIS 2013 to NIS 2012. Here's what I did:

I had an online vault using NIS 2013 on two Windows 8 64-bit computers.  One computer was hanging up badly on restart, shutdown and Outlook and Word 2007.  Uninstalling NIS 2013 cleared up these problems, so I downgraded to NIS 2012 on that computer.  Identity Safe wouldn't let me access my current online vault unless I upgraded back to NIS 2013, so I downgraded to NIS 2012 on my second machine.  I made a new local vault and copied it to both machines.

I like the 2013 online version of Identity Safe better, especially the sync and viewable web page aspects.  For the 2013 version I made a Start Menu and Task Bar shortcut that goes straight to my vault so I don't have to use the drop down menus or even the Norton Toolbar.  I don't think I can do that with the 2012 local vault version, can I?  I can't find a 'viewable' file for the local vault.

Now I have two local vaults with drop down menus only and an online vault which takes more steps to enter (I have to log in every time the browser opens and sometimes have to go through my Norton Account login).  The online vault also looks different than the 2013 version; the 2012 online version doesn't have security and password options.

I want the 2012 version to work the same way as the 2013:  I click on my shortcut and it goes straight to the open vault web page, unless more than 45 minutes has gone by.

If I move my local vault online:

Will the new online vault look like the 2012 version?  I suspect I'd still end up with the 2012 version and I have to log in every time the browser opens.  If not, will the new vault I've moved now open the same way as it did in the 2013 version, so I can make a shortcut straight to it?

If I move the local vault online I assume I first have to delete my current online vault I made in NIS 2013, right?  Identity Safe only allows one vault per user.

When I move online, what does the Norton Toolbar Identity Safe button do- does it take me right to the online vault, like a browser shortcut?

Do the security settings in the NIS 2012 UI now affect the online vault, especially about the 45 minute log-off option?

Before I experiment (and get very frustrated!) I'm hoping someone has some expertise in this issue.  I assume Norton will fix the NIS 2013 issues and I can go back to the 'old' way, but for now this is the best workaround.

I appreciate any feedback!
