Version 16.5.0.134 problems

This is my first post, so please excuse any errors on my part.

To those of you who are anxious to get the latest version, please be patient as my experience with it did not go well.  There were several problems that occurred.

The Idle Full System Scan never completed, I waited over 4 1/2 hours (it usually took just over 2 hours).  In the CPU area, Idle Quick scan showed in background tasks as last run on 3/13/09 at 8:13 PM - but this was Sunday Morning at 10:00AM when I was looking at it - and the status was still "running" and the task was in yellow.  Quick scans were always just that - quick.  They never showed running for over 14 hours.

When I went to check in Security History, in the view menu drop down box every item worked except for scans.  Whenever I selected scans, it caused the application to freeze.  When I hovered over the first scan entry, it never highlighted.  The detail tab wouldn't work.  The drop down menu in view stopped working, and I could not close out of the history screen.  Task manager showed the NIS had stopped responding, and I had to kill the application that way.

I probably should have posted here first, since I've been reading these posts almost daily since I got the product (NIS 2009) several months ago.  However I tried live chat, which didn't work out too well.  I then called the 800 number and went through an uninstall, reinstall "fix".  That reverted me back to ver. 16.2.0.7 which never gave me those problems.  I was told to wait 12 hours and would automatically be upgraded back to 16.5.0.134, which did not happen.

Perhaps I had a corrupted download of the new version, or a corrupted scanner module.  In any event, something went wrong - and now I'm back to waiting for the next upgrade to occur to bring me back to the 16.5 version.

I don't feel that my problem was "fixed", just bypassed.  If there are some bugs in the new version, then it pays to be patient for them to be worked out.  I wouldn't want other users to have to go through what I have - wasting almost an entire Saturday afternoon.

I'm on XP SP2, and NIS is the only product I'm using.  Prior to my original install from a store bought disk, I did a clean uninstall of Zone Alarm and SpySweeper, so I know they are not a problem.  I have case numbers in case someone would like them.

Thank you all for your time.
