Tried the link at FileHippo to download the older Norton 360 version, but as it appears the link is trapped and redirected to a Norton sales page with some “awesome” offerings. No possibility to download the old Version 22. I live in Switzerland and most likely the link is redirected right here. What a pity - the new Version 24 is a disaster - I could not agree more with the participants of this community in that Norton really has missed the mark altogether!!
Save the screenshots locally, you can then open them with the app of your choice and increase the magnification. Norton isn’t going to provide a workaround for this issue and another patch to fix things comes when they choose. It also may not even correct all the issues as once or even get the ones that are corrected right a second time.

I am extremely disappointed I want to decide what to backup and where I can’t even tell what it’s backing up now

Yeah, once you setup your backup. You need to go online → drill down → to confirm your added items were added.

Reset to Default to see this window:
Hi, first time on this board (so traet me gently!), but I have used Norton for decades. First version was on floppy discs! Now having problems managing my Norton cloud backups since new release. Screenshot shows my issue. “Seagate Backup1” is full and backup set has everything greyed out. I can only “Restore”; not sync, manage or delete anything. Went online and, in desperation, DELETED the 74.9Gb backup (it is my “last resort” backup after 4 other copies, so not critical). Online Norton CP shows it deleted, but as I can’t seem to sync to Norton Control Panel, it still shows the same. How do I sync, so it will show empty storage and I can start again?
Or amI being stupid and missing something? I’ve wasted an hour trying to sort this already though!
Arrrrggghhh. Just tried to upload a screenshot of my issue and got an error message saying “I can’t embed an image in a post”? What sort of board is this? I see an embedded image in the post just above? An image in that post (“DELL” backup set) , shows exactly what I’m seeing.
Thanks for any help on this.
- can’t embed this? Norton Cloud|911x610
That is the point of this thread. Norton has screwed the pooch on this release.
You can no longer use local backups and you must use all of your cloud backup before it will open the local drives up. Based upon your screen shot, you have only used 0.1 Gb of your cloud storage. By deleting the backup, you freed up 74.9 more Gbs of cloud storage, so you have to backup 74.9 more Gb before your drives will show again.
Norton is forcing us to do cloud backups only. We are working to have this changed and most are reverting back to the previous version.
Hello @MALCOLM_CASE
Note: I’ve not seen Cloud storage is nearly full.
fwiw ~ my experience for what it’s worth.
I’ve needed to opt Reset to Default…to clear My Backups and start over.
Note: there may be other way to clear My Backups. Sorry, I’m not aware…at this time.
I’m curious…had you tried Delete Backup.
Note: afaik…Delete is not working…creating need to go online to Delete.
I’ve gone online to Delete and opted Restore to Default…to start over…a few times.
Note: when I ran NRnR against v24. My Backups retained my backups. I don’t know whether that’s expected or just me.
Note: We’re all trying to get familiar with v24 sans v24 User Guide other than Learn More docs.
Delete Backup window does nada my side. I don’t know whether that’s expected or just me. Cancel works.
Reset to Default → No backups created yet
Thanks bjm. You are correct, the local “Are you sure you want to delete this backup” option
you showed does not work. The “button” (Delete Backup) reacts to a click, but nothing else happens. “Cancel” works. Looking at the other options you described.
Please post progress
Thanks
Don’t ask me how I did it but, eventually, after almost giving up, I managed DELETE all backup sets and this did register both locally and online.
I created a new backup set and all seems to be working as it should, for now at least.
Thanks for the advice on here, it led me to a solution, somehow…
I agree with all who have posted before. It’s TERRIBLE that Norton has done away with full backup to local hard drive. I do not and NEVER WILL backup my data to the cloud. If Norton does not revert to allowing FULL BACKUP to DISK, as they have done previously, I will look elsewhere when my renewal is up.
I echo all above. Following the removal of utilities that Norton said i would keep as long as i automatically renewed i had very little success with norton. After trying help and wrote to the CEO. Basically got a get lost response. Took me two hours yesterday on chat to get the Norton tech in India to revert me to version 22.24.8.36. I can local backup again; however, I have no faith that this will not be over ridden by a future update. The fact that tech was so quick to revert makes me think that they know they screwed up. Question is does Norton care?
Been a customer for over 20 years and local backup saved me twice. I know that i have other backup options e.g. Acronis but this has been one of the best Norton features for years.
I have contacted computer active, but if Norton does not remedy this ASAP then I am gone as a customer.
Norton I hope that you are listening and care and no i don’t want to start online and then switch to local backup as possibly indicated above.
@Mindwalker: Do you/does anyone here know easy steps to “revert” back to the old/previous version of Norton 360? (I bought Norton explicitly for the external back-up, and will NOT stay with Norton if they’re going to push all users to do the “cloud back-up” thing; not interested. Period.
Thanks in advance.
Use the link in my previous post. Follow the instructions of uninstalling V24 first, then install this. I was able to save my data and not have to reset the setting.
Please ignore FilHippo. It doesn’t work. Use this to get an offline installer.

Haselo Backup Suite discussion

The new 360 (Oct 24th GUI UPDATE) no longer allows me to create new backup sets. We use to be able to “create backup sets”. Now, there is no way to Create or Add a new backup set. Further the online Norton instructions are old and only apply to previous versions of backup.
Backup also no longer allows me to run my existing Backups to my Internal Hard drives. I used Norton’s 360 Backup to backup files and folders to both the Norton Cloud and also to my other Internal Hard drive (not external hard drives).
So, with the new Norton 360 October upgrade, the backup section (under Security) no longer allows me to “sync” (run backup) my previous backups to my local hard drives. The little “sync” circle arrows only work on the cloud backup. There is no “sync” for older backup sets to local hard drives
Yesterday, (Oct 25 2024) I called Norton Tech support. The first person I spoke to was not up-to-date on the new Norton 360’s upgrade. The tech uninstalled and reinstalled Norton, but could not get the backups sets to run. So, when I called the second time (an hour latter), the other Tech person was aware that 360 Backup no longer has the features to backup to local Internal Hard drives, nor the ability to ADD new Backup Sets ( like the previous version allowed).
How do we add/create backup sets now? How do we run existing previous backup sets to local hard drives (internal)?
Norton PLEASE reinstate the ability to ADD backup sets (that allow one to select particular folders and files) and to allow Backups TO LOCAL HARD DRIVES.
[FYI-- I have been using Norton product for 20+ years or more. I do like them. However, the latest upgrade of Norton 360 has failed to impress. I am now having to use other Backup programs like Macrium Reflect or Acronis to do what I have done for years with Norton]
