Version Number

I just installed NIS 2009 and I was wondering what the latest version number is?I’m using 16.0.0.125, I’ve done the live update.

I did that and I’m using version 16.0.0.125 according to the about under Help. I seen something about a patch that changed the version number and I was just wanting to know if 16.0.0.125 is the latest.

Hi squid13,

The latest version is 16.1.0.33.

It may take a few updates for the new build to arrive. When it does, it generally will require a restart.

Phil_D Thank You for your response.

Phil is serious when he says "a few."  But the updates for this require that you initiate the Live Update from within the NIS console.  Go ahead and do this and key your eyes open for the restart request.  That should do it.

Please let us know how this has worked out.  (If you don't have the latest version by now, we will have to find you a link to download the latest package).

Mijcar it finally updated and everything is OK.

Excellent, we’re all glad to hear that.

If you have Version 135 of Norton Internet Security 2009/AntiVirus 2009, then you were having Issues with Web Protection Definitions Installing.

All Users with Norton 2009 Products get all Product Versions Released, whether they like it or not; these Updates do Require a Re-Start.

I don't understand the comment. Unless I missed something, the original post by markcc does not mention that.

Now I’m confussed (along with the OP and others I’m sure) can you elorate on what you meant Floating_Red?  Did you think the OP did not have version 135 or was having problems obtaining version 135 or ???

I do have version 16.5.0.135 installed.  It appears all is well.  How do I make sure the Web Protection Definitions are up to date?

Hi markcc,

I am sure they are if the NIS main interface is showing "Secure".

I don't know why that comment about Web Protection Updates was made, but apparently it did cause some concern which I was afraid might happen.

In order to check the folder where your Definitions are located, first go to Control Panel > Folder Options > View tab and then check "Show hidden files and folders".

The Definitions are located in (XP) C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Norton\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\Norton\Definitions or:

(Vista) C:\Program Data\Norton\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\Norton\Definitions.

You will see folders there for IPSDefs, VirusDefs and WebProtectionDefs.

In the WebProtectionDefs folder you should see a sub folder named as a current date, such as "20090502.001".

You do not have to check these folders on a daily basis. As long as your product indicates "Secure", you are protected.

Where on Norton site can I find out what the current version of NIS 2009 is?  I know how to find it in the program, however I do not know if it is the most current.  My version is 16.5.0.135

Thanks
