Very perturbed with "new Performance functions"

Product: Norton Internet Security

Version: 22.5.2.15

Host OS:  Windows 7 64bit

Apparently, the latest major update(s) added new functionality which can be accessed via a "Performance" tab.  This new functionality causes Norton to report the "computer is at risk" due to... (wait for it...) "NOT "optimizing (de-fragmenting) a HDD"... huh????   Perhaps there is some poorly worded option buried somewhere that allows this function to be disabled, but I could not find it.

Hopefully an option or set of options (either accessed via the NIS GUI, or via the registry) exists... if not, please be sure to add options in subsequent releases which allow the user to DISABLE features that could potentially DAMAGE ones computer...  I can accept altering files if they are infected... but forcing one to perform "optimization tasks" before NIS will provide an indicator that the computer is OK... well... that is getting a bit too heavy handed for me.

If this issue isn't addressed rather quickly, I will most likely be looking for a replacement product that is more configurable.

Thank You for your consideration.
