VIRSCAN7.DAT files

Need some help from you people: I do have more than 48  VIRSCAN7.DAT files each of more than 120KB and it uses a lot of my available hard disk space. All located on: C:/Program files/Common files/Symantec Shared/Viruses/tmpxxxx.tmp

My PC has Antivirus 12.8.04 as part of  Norton SystemWorks 2006 Version: 9.00      Build: 103 that I have been renewing each year.

Does anyone knows:

- if I can delete this files without any consequences

- is there is an option to stop being created?

Please help, Thanks Rafael.

You are running a very old unsupported System Works program. They stopped  supporting System Works back in 2009. That was when they stopped making system works. System works 12 back in 2009 was the last edition that was put out. If your computer fits the minimum requirements, I would recommend  updating your Norton Security program. The 2006 engine really isn't capable to handle today's malware.

http://us.norton.com/products/index.jsp This is the list of the current Norton products. Thanks.

I Tried, downloaded the AutoDetectPkg.exe, then the Norton Download Manager and run it but when starting to download it gives me a communications error, no codes no nothing, still is on my desktop, how can I solve this? I check the proxy and in blank. Is there any other way to upgrade to 2009? Thanks, Rafael.

Hello Ravozev

The only way to upgrade to a Norton 2009 product is if you can find one some place like at Amazon if they are completely unused boxed packages. Do not buy a used copy and best if you can get the boxed version that is sealed and guaratnteed not to be used.

Once you get the new product, we can help you to remove your old System Works. The Norton Store is not going to have products from 2009. Please don't go to places like eBay for any products that require a key. Thanks.
