I just thought a virtual keyboard would be nice for entering Quicken file passwords, or for entering your social security number in TurboTax – things like that. Am I wrong in thinking a virtural keyboard is one more little bit of security when entering information (only mouse clicks, no keystrokes)? I’m really kind of a dope where this kind of thing is concerned so I won’t be offended if someone points out to me that my thinking here is all wrong – and maybe explain why. Maybe the reason you never seem to see virtual keyboard programs or add-ons “out there” is that they aren’t a great idea.
If using a virtual keyboard thwarts keyloggers, why isn’t one included with all security software? I haven’t looked into it but I see that Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 now has that feature. RoboForm has one, but it can only be used in the web browser. I would LOVE to see a simple virtual keyboard with the next version of NIS that could be used with other programs like Quicken and TurboTax. I’ve tried using the on-screen keyboard that comes with Windows but it’s kind of glitchy. Does anyone know why a virtual keyboard wouldn’t be considered a good idea?
Why would it be nice?
What would you like to do with it?
