I see that yet again there appears to be issues with the V.D.s release which, from a company like symantec, I would expect better. If anyone can shed light on this, I would be very greatful. This should not be happening in the first place. Thanks! :)
Yes, it's going on 29 hours without an update. I don't think that St. Patty's Day has anything to do with it...I guess their system can break down also. At least the pulse definitions are still coming out.

I as well have not recieved any Virus Definitions for today, will they ever come out, I would like to do a virus scan with Current Virus definitions, Ipaid for it, NIS 2010 Version 17.5.0.127 Thanks..Gorpy 1, and what happen to Intelligent Updater
It appears that there are still issues regarding this, and it would be great and very helpful if someone from symantec Security Respose could explain why these issues keep on re-appearing week after week, which should not be happening. Than k-You.
Yes, you are right. There are like 2 antivirus updates again that are behind schedule. I know that the complexity of the malware may have something to do with it not happening, but a smaller update is better than no update. I know the malware is probably changing more rapidly than the new updates can keep up with it.

I'm only 1 behind and I'm sure they'll come out. it just seems to be a bit different than they use too be. I use to get new VD with a new date a few mornings a week, Now I get a VD update in the morning the VD date doesn't change untill I get another one later that day........Thanks.....The Gorp
I usually get 3 antivirus definitions a day Tues, thru Sat. and 2 on Sunday and Monday with corresponding idle quick scans after those updates. It's now over 24 hours since my last idle quick scan and no updated antivirus definitions listed on the Symantec website either for 3/26. Perhaps they have changed their schedules without informing any one. This seems to be happening on the weekends, so maybe it's something new. I guess how many updates you get in a day also depends on how much your computer is on, but the Symantec website usually shows when the definitions have come out.
No V.D. have yet been Release for March 26, 2010, although there is a planned 26/03/2010, Revision 019, which should be getting released shortly; only one was Released yesterday, so it means all symantec Products are at least 27 Hours' behind., although, Norton 2009/2010 Products do have Pulse Updates, but these are not enough as they do not back-log.
symantec have got great Norton 2010 Products, but this is totally un-acceptable of symantec Security Response.

26/03/2010, Revision 19, has been Released.

Hello floplot........I do believe their out and I don't see why you would not recieve it.......but something seems to have changed. unless it's my imagination...Gorpy 1
Yes, I got my first antivirus update about a half hour ago. That means probably only 1 update for today, 3/26 instead of the usual 3 on Fridays and 2 on Thurs. instead of the usual 3. Something has changed or is changing..
For your informaton, there was only one V.D. Releaed on Thursday, March 25, 2010; there should be another V.D. Update "today" (26/03/2010) in about another seven hours' time. I hope this is helpful.
------------------------------------------------
For anyone who is un-familiar, under normal conditions, 2008 and Newer Products get three V.D. Monday to Friday, and at least two at the weekends, whereas Norton 2006/2007 Products get one every single day; any Products older than this only gets one-a-week, on a Wednesday.
I guess it depends on the time zone you are in and where the updating server is that updates the computer. 7 hours from now will be Sat.. I'm east coast USA.
Even althought it will be "tomorrow" (27/03/2010), symantec will still class the V.D. as 26/03/2010 because this was the Date they were Created. Hope this clears things up.
From my perspective, I'd say Norton are preparing their servers to release a new Product Update. The timeframe between the initial post in last weekend's 'No Update' thread and the first post to indicate that the problem had been fixed has all the hallmarks of planned outage. The last time that a similar outage like this occurred was January 1, 2010. On January 12 2010, product update 17.5.0.127 was released.

This comment seems somewhat excessive as there are other components of the NIS 2010 software that will protect you in the interim. Even Norton, themselves, class the Virus Definition updates as 'Recommended' rather than 'Critical'...

I have just received NIS Product Update 17.6.0.32.

It's not even been a month and again there are issues with the release of the V.D. and Pulse Updates. Please can someone comment on what is going on as a good company service to customers.
