Virus Definitions' Release

Yep - me too! 6 minutes ago ;-D

Someone feel my pulse...:smileytongue:

I think everyone would like a symantec Security Response Employee to comment on what's going on with this, as I've asked for before but, so far, no-one has commented.

Looks like everything is back up. Got Pulse updates and more on everything

This happened earlier today as well; about six hours' ago, there were no Pulse Updates for 40 Minutes, then the V.D. were released along with a few Pulse Updates, before there was a five-hour gap.

It all seems to be back to normal now, so that’s a relief! I’ve had various updates, including Virus Definitions and Pulse Updates.

Here We go again, I'm at 1 hour and counting......Got a Live update of Virus Definitions and that was it, Network Security Map is out too......Anybody else......... I seem to be getting Live updates (even pulse)  but that does not change the Run Live Update time....and I know my clock is allright my brother-in-law at N.A.S.A. can verify that.......Gorpy1

Seemed to be working fine this morning and I am getting pulse updates about every 6-7 minutes.

But I'm not going to sit and watch my anti virus program all day either.

Just got another pulse update so ..... It will sort itself out I trust. If I don't notice any AV updates in a few hours I'll check back in again.

Oddly I still cannot pronounce Eyjafjallajokull no matter what Norton does. Now that I find troublesome.:smileyhappy:

Cheers,

Chatham

I Rebooted and mine is running fine now...Go Figure.....Gorpy1

It's been over 15Hours since the last V.D. Update, and on May 06, there was only two Updates Released instead of the usual three during the week, and this was also happened a few days ago as well.  Whatever the issue is, I hope it is fixed shortly.  Thanks.

Would someone explain the messages posted on this of 05/18/2010?  What I have seen is that last night, I ran LiveUpdate, picked up the definitions that way, and tried a run of LiveUpdate this morning and the message on Norton (360, in my case) said that all definitions are up to date.  What is your "Revision 004", and "Security Map" business?

In any case, if someones definition updates have been downloaded and installed and applied, and if no further newer definitions have been made available, the would that message in Norton telling us that ."... definitions are up to date", should this be reasonable?

Hi g_cafe_c....We're talking about Norton Internet Security 2010 not Norton 360.....I know there's some difference though I'm not sute what when It comes to Virus definitions.....Someone else may know..I like NIS 2010......Gorpy1

Hello g_cafe_c

I believe they were discussing that the usual number of antivirus definition releases did not happen today. The antivirus definitions that are released for NAV/NIS and N360 would be the same definitions. What determines the difference is the year of the products release. If you look on the page of the Symantec site where the Intelligent Updater is, you can see if any definitions came out for the current day. The revision numbers just refer to the name or identification of the group of antivirus definitions. Some people are just used to seeing the antivirus definitions being released a certain number of times a day.
