I appologize as I am not at all sure where to post a help request like this and more likely than not put it in the wrong place.
If anyone can help me I would very much appreciate it.
I have a Dell laptop with windows vista.
The browsers I use are:
Internet Explorer version 8.0
Mozilla Firefox
AOL 9.1
and Google Chrome
My laptop is currently infected with a virus.
I've been using AVG's Free edition since my Symantec trial expired.
Today a message from AVG came up saying that a threat was detected when visiting certain websites. Ex: Yahoo, Windows Home page, any Microsoft page, and even here on Symantec. I have been looking for help and solutions for the past few hours, yet I can't find any information on the specific virus itself or any similar help or recomendations pertaining to Vista.
It also appears as if there is nothing really known about the specific virus that I have.
These are the details that I got from my AVG scan:
Infection type: !Infection
Virus Name: Trojan horse PSW.Generic6.AQPD
path to file: C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil10a.exe
Process Name: C:\Windows\system32\svchost.exe
Process ID: 920
The pop-ups offers to remove the threat as Power User.
When I try to remove the threat, heal the threat, or move it to AVGs virus vault, a second message comes up asking if I would like to force removal and warns that a forced removal could cause system unstability or even crash.
When I select not to force removal, a third and final message comes up saying:
Some files cannot be healed
Action was inturrupted by user
I have no idea what to do. I can't get rid of it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
