Issue abstract:

Detailed description: I have suffered a virus incursion followed by a scam which purported to remove the virus. There are no evident problems with my computer and I have run a Norton smart scan and the report was that no viruses or malware were found. Can I be confident that my computer is safe to use for, e.g. banking?

How were you notified you had this virus? Was it a popup that was not a Norton item that offered a service to remove the infection, that you then made contact from that popup? If so, did you pay for a ‘fix’? If so, there may be nothing there to find, but you can get a second opinion scan with Malwarebytes free.

Also if this is what happened you might want to contact your payment card provider to report the scam and close that card’s account and get a replacement to ensure the scammers cannot dip into your account again.
