I want to know if its possible for a virus to physically damage a Hard Drive
lemme explain....a few months ago I visited a website that seemed to have some good downloads....
Mcafee and Norton site advisors said the site was green and clean... like an idiot I trusted the raitings....
I downloaded a tool that supposedly helped my internet signal when it lagged....
so I installed it and it asked for a reboot...
after the reboot my computer began to act strangely...it started to slow down and the Hard Drive began to make a grinding noise almost like it was stalling...then of course...Blue Screen Of Death...I rebooted and ran Norton full system scan. but whatever had gotten on my computer wasnt allowing Norton to finish the scan....because everytime before it completed the scan the BSOD would interupt and reboot the computer..........so I booted into safemode and when I tried to run the Scan in Safemode a message popped up saying "action cannot be completed" (What?!?! In Safemode?!)........well I booted back into regular to discover that my windows defender had been deactivated.....and right before my eyes.....one by one all of my computer's defenses began to drop...
Norton Firewall dropped
Sonar Dropped
Defender Dropped
Windows Firewall Dropped
there was nothing I could do but go to my tech store and have my computer restored : [
well after my computer came back everything seemed fine....except my HDD now freezes at random points....but since there's no virus anymore it unfreezes and starts rolling again....it freezes only for about 30 seconds before coming back.....I think somehow this "thing" did enough damage that it ruined a part of my HDD....
now I went back the site where I got this demon from and what do you know? they changed their name....I wonder why????.......................
the site was called "1001 downloads.com" but now if you Google that name...you get "Softwareandgames.com"
yes its still Green.....and yes its still "Clean".........
that hellhole CANNOT be Green anymore....too many innocent people are going to have their computers ruined....
