Hi, my home WLAN has two machines, Vista and XP pro, both having NIS2010. Vista has WPA/TKIP and XP has WPA2/AES encryption. There are also two wired machines, XP home with Norman and XP pro with Norton connected to the ADSL router directly.
When surfing internet with wireless XP and IE 8, after a while Vista sends the same url to the IP address owned by Limelight Networks. This is probably for Symantec content delivery, because if I block this IP space then their updates stop working, as well as Norman in desktop machine.
Why an earth Vista looks at the XP machine traffic, and how is it possible if they are using different WLAN encryption???
I have tried various settings in Norton, and asked Symantec but they replied that it is not caused by Norton. Vista machine has been checked for viruses & spyware by commercial service, dns has been flushed and nothing found.
The url shortens when I uncheck the phishing option "submit full site information", so it should be Norton behaviour. The sent url can be seen from the routers web block log, which has been activated for content cleanup purposes. I have tried to get a Wireshark log, but either I have not managed to catch it or I cannot find the right packet from the log to see what happens. Wired machines are working well, and the Vista does not look their traffic, nor the wireless XP does not look at the Vista traffic (it has same Norton version). Vista browser needs not to be used at all.
Any help ? Upgrading Vista or XP is not an option.
